Foundation Phase (Grades R, 1, 2 & 3)
As per the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement set by the Department of Basic Education our Foundation Phase subjects are as follows:
- Numeracy: Mathematics
- Literacy: English Home Language & Afrikaans first Additional Language
- Life Skills
Intermediate Phase (Grades 4, 5 & 6)
As per the National Curriculum and Assessment Policy Statement set by the Department of Basic Education our Intermediate Phase subjects are as follows:
- Home Language (English)
- First Additional Language (Afrikaans)
- Natural Science & Technology
- Social Sciences (History & Geography)
- Personal & Social Well-Being (Life Orientation, Creative Art & Physical Education)
The above mentioned subjects have been extensively Islamised in order to highlight and bring about an awareness of Allah (SWT) and His most blessed Deen.
Foundation and Intermediate Phases also have Computer Literacy as a subject.
The Tasheel Syllabus is followed in the Islamiyah Department encompassing the following subjects:
- Hifz & Surahs
- Quraan & Tajweed
- Tareekh (Islamic History)
- Practical Fiqh
- Aqaaid & Akhlaaq
- Duaas & Kalimahs
The Ijtimat method is used in class. Staff attend regular workshops, meet with other Islamic schools and utilise external examiners ensure that the Islamiyah Department maintains a standard of excellence.
**The IEOSA Syllabus is used to teach Arabic in the Foundation Phase and the Bayna Yadaik series is used to teach Arabic in the Intermediate Phase.
